The Tides of Success

By George Harrison

Just as with the tides in the sea, there is an ebb and flow to the tides of our "highest good" or Success in life.

If we aren't aware, we could just mistake these "tides of success" for failure when success is actually right at hand. We only need to put ourselves in line with this natural cycle of success to maximize our efforts and to avoid misinterpreting our results.

Sometimes, when our "tide" is out, we have to travel a little further and work a little harder to get our feet "wet" with the waters of Success.

At other times, the "tide" is in, and at those times it's no effort at all to be "swimming in Success".

The Point?

Without understanding the Universal Law that these "tides" are the Natural course of Life and Life's Energies, most of us misinterpret our results as we struggle to "swim in the sand" when the "tide" is out.

Eventually, of course, the "waters of success" will find us again (when the "tide" comes back in again, as it always does), but, we may be discouraged by our results from our attempts and efforts to swim through the sand by then.

We should not mistake these times of exhausting and unrewarded effort as failure by any means.

They're just a Natural process of "timing"

A good example of this cycle can be found in the recent, short book titled "The Dip" by Seth Godin. I recommend you get hold of a copy and read it.

He well illustrates that every field of interest or business eventually hits a low point in the early stages that closely simulates "failure" (like "swimming in the sand" when the tide is out).

Only it isn't failure at all

It's really the point that must be pressed on through while waiting for the "tide" to come in and sweep us to much greater Success in our fields.

He makes other observations as well, but, I draw this one to your attention as it well illustrates something that we commonly encounter: The need for Persistence on the Path to Your Success.

The Hidden Factor.

There is another factor as well to consider and that is whether we are in full self-agreement at all levels with ourselves in the pursuit of our goals and dreams.

If there is a misalignment of our belief systems and our conscious goals, there will be an energy imbalance and blockage of our goals that could easily be mistaken for "The Dip" instead of the fact that we've gone to the "desert" to go swimming instead of the "Sea of Success"!

The results will, at first, seem similar, but, in the desert the "tide" will never come in!

To read some more information I've posted about how you can turn the "desert" of misaligned beliefs and energies into a "Sea of Success and Opportunity", please use the link in the resource box at the end of this article.

It's a simple process that holds out the possibility of changing your results in Life.

Is Fear Holding You Back From Succeeding In Your Business?

By Chuck Abbott

I have known a lot of people throughout my life that are always talking about how much they want to make changes in their life and get out of the rut they are currently in. So I show them a better way and they say they are going to go for it and for a day or two they have great forward progress and then they just decide to keep doing what they are doing.

Why would people keep doing what isn't working for them?

In most cases, it's one word. Fear.

People are afraid of change. They are afraid of trying something and then not being perfect at it. They are afraid of putting in the work to be successful. They are afraid of the unknown.

Whatever they are afraid of, all fear leads to is missed opportunities. Life is all about timing and if you don't take action towards change for whatever reason, you are going to miss out. I get very frustrated when I show someone the way and they are too afraid to move forward and then months later tell me that they should have listened to me. So, they just spent the last months continuing to be unsuccessful. What a waste.

While these people let fear rule their decisions, life is passing them by. You have to take risks to be successful. If something isn't working for you, don't be afraid to try something new. Even if it's something you have never tried before.

The best way to overcome your fear is to try something. If you fail, make some modifications and try again. When you become successful at something, all the fear will go away. You will have gained the confidence to try new things and move ahead.

Joe shed a lot of light about where these negative feelings come from and how they can be overcome.

If you (or someone you know) is stuck in business (or in life) and fear is dominating your life and keeping you from true success, take the time to listen to what Joe has to say about this.

The call lasts an hour, but what you learn will stay with you for a lifetime.

Maybe You Are A Genius

By Mark Gallardo

Many people must have suspected at some time or the other that they might be a genius- or some of your parents must have wondered if one of of your very special children might have be a genius. Just what kinds of criteria are used to define genius? Check the list of the characters (TRUE or FALSE, as they apply yo to, or the person you suspect of possessing genius quality);

___1. Has I.Q. of 140 or more.(Genius is more than I.Q. but it's usually very helpful in many accomplishments.)

___2. Has a very inventive mind.

___3. Has at least one area of truly outstanding accomplishment.(A young potential genius may not yet have this record achieved.)

___4. Possesses an intense, highly focused attention and concentration.

___5. Has a near-relative from whom he could have inherited genius genes. (Of course he could have learned genius-type behavior from them too.)

___6. Has early environment provided excellent stimulus for creative approaches.(Both heredity and environment are important, though heredity id probably more important.)

___7. Child has budding genius qualities then received very special attention and advantages, as well as high expectation, from parents, teachers, etc.,

THIS IS THE ANSWER KEY

The more of the above criteria you can trustfully apply to yourself or that very special someone you are thinking of, the more likely he or she is genius or near-genius. You should realize that true genius is quiet rare. And science has not yet established a clear, easy-to-apply criterion of genius.

How To Learn From Successful People

By Enrique Villalobos

Here's a quick "True" or "False" quiz:

1) Successful people have all been "blessed" with exceptional talents or skills.

2) Successful people are highly educated people with college degrees.

3) Successful people inherit their success.

4) Successful people get where they are by being dishonest.

If you answered "true" to all of the above, you failed the quiz. What's more, you are most likely undermining your own potential for success.

In order to unravel the "mysterious" secrets of success, it is necessary to discard several unfortunate misconceptions. First of all, success does not require superior talents or skills.

It does require certain attributes or traits that are not inborn but learned. For example, successful people are typically goal-oriented, highly motivated, flexible, determined, confident, and self-disciplined.

Secondly, many of the most successful people in the world never attended college. In fact, many never even finished high school. Thomas Alva Edison- whose many inventions include the electric light bulb, the phonograph, and the motion picture camera- had only a few months of formal education. Largely self-taught, Edison learned and developed the attributes common to successful people. He once said that "genius is 1% inspiration and 99% perspiration". Insert the word "success" in place of "genius", and the statement is just as true.

A third misconception is that most successful people started out with unfair advantages. The thinking here is that successful people never get where they are by starting "from scratch". These people must have inherited financial advantages or influential contacts. The truth is, a great many success stories are "rags to riches". Many of the most successful people in the United States started with nothing and earned their measure of success through hard work.

Finally, most successful people do not get where they are by cheating. Dishonesty is not a prerequisite to success.

Once these misconceptions have been discarded, it should begin to come clear that success is not typically a result of circumstances or aptitude. It is most often a result of "success-oriented behavior" involving certain characteristics or attributes that anyone can learn and develop.

Rather than being secret, the way to success is open to anyone who has a goal and who develops the thinking, attitudes and behaviors common to all successful people.
In order to be successful, you must have a goal- some point you wan to reach. That's the first and most important requirement for success. Simply put, you can't be a winner if there's nothing to win.

Both short- and long-term goals are essential elements in providing a sense of direction and purpose. Without a specific, clearly defined goal, you're like a traveler who has no destination. You have no idea of where you're going or why. You don't know how to use your time and resources to their fullest advantage. On the other hand, goal-oriented people know exactly where they are headed and why. They plan their journey carefully, keeping in mind all the detours they may face along the way, and never lose sight of their destination- their goal.

Once you have set your goal(s) you must have the drive or motivation to reach it regardless of the obstacles in your way.

Successful are all highly motivated people who press forward until their goals are reached. That doesn't mean that in order to achieve your goals you must exclude everything else from your life. You'll still need to socialize and relax, but you must set priorities. Consider how much time you spend each day in unnecessary pastimes that do little more than sap your energy. If you use that time instead to focus on and work toward a specific goal, you'll increase your chances for success dramatically. The bottom line is, in order to be successful, you must want to reach your goal more than anything else.
